Fun At StoryBook Gardens

Ahoy all,

I’m happy to announce I’ll be returning to Storybook Gardens in London Ontario again this year. I’ll be performing two shows every Wednesday in July and August as well as many other surprise performances.

As always, each show is family friendly and full of fun magic and audience participation. Many children will come onstage to assist and when the show ends I’ll be sure to share some of my treasure. It’s great fun and I hope to see you there.

March Break at the White Oaks Mall

Ahoy all,

Shiver me timbers, it be a cold winter. I’m eagerly anticipating the warmer weather of summer! I’ve got lots of shows and surprises to tell you about coming in June and July, but we’ll keep that “below deck” fer now! March Break is coming fast and I wanted to give you a heads up about my many shows that week and where you can find me!  I’ll be performing a lot of private events during March break, however I have a few public shows and appearances at London’s White Oaks Mall!        I’ll be strolling around the mall a few times that week, but watch for my big pirate magic shows on Wednesday March 15th and Thursday March 16th. It’s sure to be a blast! I look forward to seeing you there!

Entertaining and Educational! Pirate themed magic shows

Ahoy all,

Looks like I’ll be spending most of May and June visiting ( performing at ) many public schools in Ontario. Today I’ve just returned from performing for a group of special needs children in London ON. It was just a small classroom show, but that made the magic show very special for these children. It was a great day and the kids had fun!

I perform many big assembly shows and lots of small shows for single classrooms. Each show is special because the performance is interactive and the children become the stars. It’s very empowering for a child to come “onstage” in front of his peers and then perform magic. That’s what happens in my shows, The child does the magic where Captain Corbin often fumbles the effect and the magic does not work for me. It makes the child feel special.

When I perform for groups at schools and libraries I often add an educational theme to the show. Currently I’m offering two shows with an educational theme –

Reading Treasures, which is a magic show about reading and literacy skills. (many of the effects involve spelling and I talk about the importance of reading)

Math-a-Magic, which is of course a show filled with math magic tricks of various skill levels so all the children can take part.

Besides the above examples I’ve also performed shows with water conservation, recycling, bullying and more as the theme. Let me know what kind of theme your school wishes to promote and with enough warning I may be able to custom design a show for you!

A busy March Break Pirating in Ontario

Captain Corbin magicianYarr Mates!

I had a fun, busy and crazy March Break 2016! I traveled all over Ontario performing my pirate themed magic shows for all kinds of audiences at Libraries, Private parties, restaurants and waterparks!

By the numbers I performed over 20 shows during the week! 10 libraries, 2 shows at the Waterpark, 6 restaurant appearances and two private shows.  I drove over 2265 Km (the distance from my home to Walt Disney world in Florida) Performed for well over 1500 people, threw away over 8 gross of gold colored pirate coins and spent more on gas then I’m willing to tally up, but it was a blast to be sure!

I performed at the Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls ONairo on the first and last Saturday of the March Break. the shows were both well attended with over 15o people at each show (by my poor count) On the last Saturday I even stuck around and read one of my favorite pirate books to the children for story time. ( How I became a Pirate by Melinda Long) Well, I started to read that story anyway. I know the story by memory, so I picked up the book and started reciting it. After a few minites I realized the pictures were not matching up. Upon closer inspection I realized I had grabbed the second volume (Pirates don’t change diapers by Melinda Long) After a short bit of confusion I read that book WITH the children, as I don’t know that one by memory yet! It was quite funny.

I had fun at all the libraries! Some I performed at for the first time. Here is a short list;

Idea Exchange in Cambridge, Dutton On Library, Baden ON, library, Harriston ON library, Queens Square in Cambridge, St. Clements Library, Aboyne Library, Wellesley Library, New Dundee library

I’m looking forward to the next time I return to all the libraries! Maybe this summer.

As always, if you would like me to sail to your area just ask you local library when I’ll be appearing next!

Ahoy all,

Captain Corbin

Pirating in the Muskokas

Ahoy Pirates!

Shiver me timbers it’s been a busy few weeks. I’ve just returned from Minett Ontario and had a blast! ( Like a Cannon! )

Captain Corbin in Minett ON

Minett is a very tiny town in the Muskoka’s but it has two amazing Resorts. Clevelands House and the Rosseau / J.W. Marriott.  It’s been years since I’ve performed at Cleveland’s house. Lots of great memories there. I sailed into the docks on the steamship Whenonah 2 from Gravenhurst Wharf and we would pick up all the kids from Cleveland’s Kids club for a pirate cruise around the lake. Then afterwards I’d join them at the Resort for a large magic show. It was lots of fun.

This past weekend I performed a very special show at the J.W. Marriott / The Rosseau resort and Spa in Minett. It was a great show out on the back lawn for the families. I even brought my animatronic talking skull Randy to entertain with pirate hi-jinks and jokes. The show went very well and almost all the children got to participate. at the end of the show they all received a bit of pirate gold! It was a buccaneering good time. I can’t wait to return.

Well that’s all for the ship’s log this week. I’ve got a few days of shore leave now, then I must prepare for next weeks exciting shows! It all starts Friday at Storybook gardens in London, then Saturday at the lake Huron children’s festival, then sunday in Glencoe ON and Monday at the Woodstock library! Busy times, busy times.

Have A Piraticial day!
